Care Day 2018 was surprising … so many more people!

Care Day 2018 was surprisingly large, with more guests than ever before. Due to feedback from service providers and community events, we were expecting immigration concerns to reduce attendance. But just the opposite occurred - 45% more guests came this year, indicating that there is still great need in our community, across many types of families, and an event like Care Day is still needed.

Here are statistical tidbits of the day:

  • 631 guests (837 household members) - a 45% increase

  • 65 local service organizations

Guests were

  • 65% from Bothell, Kenmore, Kirkland, and Woodinville

  • 106 families with children in Northshore and Lake Washington schools

  • 56% age 26-50, 29% age 51+

  • 57 guests were homeless, mostly living in shelters and vehicles

  • 29% were seeking work; 27% were disabled

  • 73% were new to Care Day

Items provided included groceries, bike helmets, haircuts, shoes, family portraits, books, housing assistance, legal assistance, job searches, and a wide range of medical and family and youth services from 68 local service providers.
